May Photo Charter...

With the number 19 scheduled to be removed from service for routine boiler work in June, renowned railroad photographer Martin Hansen organized a photo special utilizing both of our operable locomotives on May 14 and 15, 2010. This was our first spring charter in quite a few years, and luckily the weather cooperated.

The stove and lamps are lit in Sumpter Valley Railway coach number 20.

Engineer Mike Olsen oils around at the first photo stop of the day.

Both Mikado number 19 and Heisler number 3 are under steam in the small yard in Sumpter.

The majestic Elkhorn Mountains provide an attractive backdrop for visitors to the Sumpter Valley.

Carlos Furcal has the passenger step while Steve Christy checks the journals on caboose number 3 and Eric Wunz discusses the next run-by with Gerald Hellinga.
